Don Earl "Donnie" Horton, 75, of Palacios died July 1, 2006. She was born December 18, 1930 in Bransdall, Oklahoma to Cecil C. and Ruby Sanders Smith. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a longtime teacher for Palacios ISD.

Survivors include her husband, Winfrey Horton of Palacios; daughters Wynnette Bradley & Katheryn Kelley both of Houston & Cherly Caminiti of Angleton; sisters Cecelia Walsh of Athens, TX & Mary Lovell of Fredricksburg, TX; brothers David Smith and Sterling Smith both of Amite, LA; five grandchildren Lisette Realbuto, Jason Kelley, Brian Caminiti, Justin Caminiti, & Joshua Bradley and three great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00: AM Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Dave Gruhn officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Palacios Funeral Home.
