Obituary

Dolores Barron Garcia, 93, passed away November 24, 2019. She was born September 15, 1926 in Berwind, Colorado to Hermenegildo Barron and Isabel Ocampo Barron.

Dolores graduated from Blessing High School in May of 1945, after which, she attended Draughns Business College in San Antonio. Upon graduation, she went to work at Lackland Air Force Base as a secretary, then moved to Galveston and worked at American National Insurance Co.  In 1956 she returned to her hometown and was employed as a legal secretary by an attorney. In 1960, she went to work for Bay City Abstract & Title Co. as a loan closer until her retirement. After retirement, she went back to work at LeTulle Real Estate and Central Power & Light Company for a short while.

On May 7, 1977 she met the love of her life Ignacio Morales Garcia. They were happily married for 30 years until his death September 19, 2007.

Dolores was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and belonged to the Legion of Mary, Choir, Word of Life, and taught CCD for many years. She served as secretary of the Church, and was Chairman of the Bingo Committee for 15 years.  She belonged to CYO Guadalupanas, Lector, Ministry of the Sick of the Church, and the Bereavement Committee.  Dolores was a member of Woodman of the World Lodge 068 where she served as an officer. She was a lifetime member of the 100 Club, served on the Board of Economic Action, belonged to LVA in which she taught English as a second language and also volunteered in various programs in the community.  She also was instrumental in helping people get their residency and become Citizens of the United States, and was a Den Mother for Pack 51 while in scouting.

Dolores is survived by her sister Lucy (Paul) Lozano of Bay City; nephew Jose A. Campos of Houston; sister-in-law Dorothy Barron of Austin, and numerous cousins and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ignacio Morales Garcia; sisters Savina Barron Romana Herrera, Tilda B. Campos and Trinidad Barron, and brothers Ysabel Barron, Frank Barron, Phil J. Barron and Lucas L. Barron.

The Rosary will be 9:30am Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am with Rev. Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
