Obituary

Delbert G. Dannels passed away January 22, 2022. He was born October 16, 1936 in Palacios, TX to the late Ted and Pauline Laslie Dannels. He graduated from Tidehaven High School in 1955, the went on to Wharton Co. Jr. College earning an Associate in Arts degree.  He then studied civil engineering at University of Texas Austin.

His work included 15 years with The Department of Public Transportation attaining the title of engineering technician; 15 years as farm implements mechanic for W.O. Salter Implements, specializing in electronics and hydraulics, and 9 years as mowing crew chief for Matagorda County Precinct 2, retiring at age 65.

He married Ann Clark August 30, 1969, who preceded him in death. He is survived by sons David of Bay City, and Dennis of Kyle, TX; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Little of Wharton and Melody of Kyle; sister Leona Mondrik of Blessing, very dear friend Barbara Boening and many nieces and nephews.

His motto was "If there was a job to do, do it to the very best of your ability." He loved to garden, and help students with algebra. He was a firm believer in the work of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Sweeny, TX.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Palacios Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 pm with Pastor Edward Boineau officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery.
