Obituary

Deborah Cochran died on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at Nichols Street Church of Christ in Bay City, Texas.

Debbie was born on July 30, 1951 in San Augustine, Texas to Daniel (Fadie) Self and Mildred Lorene (Teal) Self. She met her husband of 41 years at Angleton Church of Christ in 1963. She graduated from Angleton High School and married the love of her life in 1969. John and Debbie moved to Bay City in 1972, where she worked as a lab and x-ray technician for 20 years. She was a counselor at Camp Bandina and was very active in the Church of Christ for many years. She loved the beach, floating down the river in New Braunfels, fishing, and she had a passion for country music. Her life revolved around her family, and she lived for her children and grandchildren. Debbie never met someone she didn't love. She taught us all how to love.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Mildred Self; two brothers, Gerald and Buckley Self; and two sisters, Beth Self and Sandra (Petenbrink) Matney.

Survivors include: Husband, John Cochran; daughter and son-in-law, Jina and Clint Hook; daughter, Beverly Birdwell; daughter, Karen Cochran; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Kathy Cochran; eight grandchildren, Ashley Burke, Haley Mejias, Brandon Burke, Corbin Montalvo, Madison Birdwell, Hunter Birdwell, Cassidy Cochran, and Karissa Cochran; two great-granchildren, Aiden Contreras and Ian Mejias; and two nephews, Danny and James Petenbrink, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her entire Christian family at Nichols Street Church of Christ.
