Obituary

Deborah Elizabeth Ashcraft Story, first born of Wyatt and Sadie Calk Ashcraft was born in Bay City, Texas December 18, 1952.

Debbie left this life from her home in Victoria, Texas on April 13,2026 at 3:45 pm. The Angels rejoiced in Heaven as this faithful Saint of God was welcomed home.

From an early age, Debbie's gifts were unmistakable, she was kind and lovable all her days.

Her angelic voice and skillful touch at the piano and organ revealed a calling that would shape her life.

She perused her talents that God gave her, earning a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis in piano performance. Debbie's greatest desire was always to sing and play for the Glory of God, and that she did faithfully and beautifully, in every setting: as a church pianist beginning at the age of thirteen, in concert halls, on mission fields, in classrooms, at numerous camp meetings and many conferences.

Along the way Debbie also earned her teaching certifications and shared her love of music and education with generations of junior high and kindergarten students.

Over the years she was honored to sit under the leadership of many great pastors. Her most fond memories were in service to the Lord under the ministry of Rev. Larry Booker and the Church family at Inland Lighthouse Church, Rialto, California.

In Debbie's final years she was by her husband's side with unwavering devotion and sacrifice ministering in song and in the leading of the spirit at Celebration Church in Victoria, Texas.

Debbie will be missed deeply by her family, friends and those that knew her.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Wyatt and Sadie Ashcraft, her brother Matthew, her grandparents Felix and Lillie Calk and John and Mary Ashcraft.

Debbie is survived by her husband Rev. David A. Story, her sister Dee Williams and husband Michael Williams, her nephew Patrick Williams, his wife Julie and their sweet children Trent, Ryan, Mary and Michael Williams and Anna and Tessa Martinko. She is also survived by her aunts Evelyn Hornaday and Maxine Gibson and numerous Ashcraft / Calk cousins.

All are invited to celebrate the Home Going Service on Wednesday April 22nd at 2:00 pm at the First Methodist Church; 2300 Ave H; Bay City, TX 77414 with the Rev. Dr. Ken Gurley officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Texas.
