Obituary

David Patrick Kucera, born August 19, 1940, completed his earthly journey on November 10, 2023.

David's life was a good one. He faithfully served God as a lifelong Catholic and a truly caring man. When David said he would do something, he never failed to follow through.

David was a role model to his two sons as he showed them his love and instilled in them a discipline to be honest, respectful, and prepared for life. The love and security he gave as a husband are treasures forever cherished.

Reared as the oldest of three boys, he did not know how much he wanted a girl to call him "Dad" until he gained a daughter-in-law. He wholeheartedly enjoyed sharing his August birthday with his grandson. The special bond he held with his granddaughter, or as he named her his "Bodyguard", meant the world to him.

David grew up farming in Wharton County, served in both the U. S. Army and the U. S. Air Force, and then worked in the oil and gas pipeline industry for over 35 years. His mechanical genius served him in good stead as he could fix anything that broke and build things that were needed.

On June 11, 1966, he married Suzanne Saha. Their wedding began with morning Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing, lasted through the day with a crowd of guests feasting and celebrating, and culminated with the Joe Gavranovic band's playing all afternoon and for dancing till midnight.

David and Suzanne truly were partners, destined to live their lives together. They reared two sons, David Kucera and Jason Kucera, who have made them proud. When son David married Inez, she became their wonderful daughter. Predeceased by his parents, Vit and Cecilia Kucera, and brother Ronald, David is survived by Suzanne, Jason, David and Inez, granddaughter Krystal, grandson Joshua and Cierra, and great grandson Soren. He is also survived by his brother Jerry and Stephanie and his dear friend Terevea Williams.

As we who cherish him thank him for the never-failing love he gave us and say our earthly farewells, we know that life is merely a road to eternity. We look forward to joining David in eternal happiness.
