David Furman Cox, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side.

David was born September 22, 1933 in Mountain Home, Texas to the late George Cox and Charlotte Mae Jerrett Cox.  He loved to tell his children and grandchildren stories of his childhood, family and school friends.

He graduated high school in 1951 and in February of 1952 he joined the United States Air Force to serve in the Korean War.  He met and married the love of his life, Henriann Zaliski Cox and shared nearly 50 years together.  They were blessed with two children.

He graduated from Texas Technical University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1963, followed by a Professional Engineering License in 1971.  In the late 70's and early 80's he founded Cox Engineering, Inc. and was very successful.  He then took a new course at Testengers of Bay City, Texas.  That eventually led him to a contract at Johnson Space Center as an Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, his granddaughter Natalie Cox and many brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his son David F. Cox II and daughter Lisa A. Cox both of Bay City; grandchildren Jennifer Sparkman Soefje (James) of Seadrift, TX, Leslie Sparkman of Bay City, Madeline Cox Delaney (Jeff) of Victoria, TX and great grandchildren Zachery, Brylee, Makayla, Wyatt, Taylor, Grayson, Jackson, Ryder and Joseph.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2023 at Nichols Street Church of Christ in Bay City followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Chris Webber officiating.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hanna, Dr. Simons, Matagorda Regional Hospital, Sweeny Hospital and especially Angels Care Hospice Chaplain Steve and Nurses Alexanderia "Alex", Brenda and Stephanie.
