David Alford, 55, of Bay City, passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at his home. He was born December 25, 1951 in Floresville, TX to Delmar Ray & Mary Helen Lockhart Alford. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved God and his church; he was a lifetime member of the Sweeny Church of Christ. His passion for life, family and friends, hunting and fishing were never ending. He worked alongside his family as a rancher and cowhand, by trade.
He is survived by wife: Jan Alford of Bay City; mother: Mary Helen Alford of Sweeny; daughter: Kay Lynn Alford of Van Vleck; 2 sons & daughters-in-law: Ty Wesley & Sammi Alford of Van Vleck and David Lang & Karen Alford of San Angelo; 3 sisters & brothers-in-law: Judy & Jimmy Indest of Pearland, Susan & Glenn Salyer of Sweeny, and Sally & Robert Lynch of Sweeny; brother & sister-in-law: Jim & Susie Alford of Sweeny; and 3 grandchildren: Chasidi Jackson, Colyn Alford, and Claire Alford all of Van Vleck. He was preceded in death by his father: D. Ray Alford and by his sister, Dawn Alford.
The Family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Church of Christ in Sweeny with Brother Nathan Burrow and Rev. Ron Lynn officiating. Interment will follow at the Sweeny Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Ralph Cole, James Lee Finley, David Thompson, Dickie Thompson, Scott Barber, and Tim Jackson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bill Roberts.
