IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daria Acosta
Muniz
December 9, 1929 – September 9, 2020
Daria Acosta Muniz went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 9, 2020. She was born on December 19, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Abrahna Acosta. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Braulio R. Muniz. They raised five children Amanda, Robert, Braulio, Eva, and Melissa. It was important to her that they learn about Jesus Christ and that they received a good education. She taught them well and was very proud of them. Derry, as she was known by family and friends, was a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City, Texas. She served as a catechist, choir member, and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Cross Catholic Church. She helped in many of the church fundraisers. Derry served for 15 years for Bay City ISD as a teacher aide and then as an attendance clerk at Bay City Junior High. In addition, she was an avid volunteer in the Bay City community including Bay City ISD schools and the Women's Pregnancy Center.
Derry is survived by her children, Amanda Muniz Carlin, John Robert Muniz (Maria), Buddy Muniz (Kelly), Eva Muniz, and Missy Muniz Rico. She leaves 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She gives thanks for the care and friendship of Hortencia Hornsly. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Lalo Muniz, who received her at Heaven's gates.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Women's Pregnancy Center of Bay City at www.baycitywpc.org (specify in honor of Daria Muniz in the comments), or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be private due to COVID 91. The family asks that you pray a rosary in honor of Derry at 9:30 am Friday morning, September 11, 2020.
