IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel "Danny"
Gray
January 17, 1955 – March 7, 2026
Memorial Service
Daniel “Danny” Gray, 71, of Huntington Beach, CA, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026. He was born on January 17, 1955, in Torrance, California to the late Curtis Newell Gray and Jean Grace (Kildea) Gray.
Danny graduated from Marina High School and attended Golden West College before discovering his passion for the crane industry. Over a career spanning more than twenty-five years as a crane oiler, Danny built a reputation for his skill, reliability, and knowledge. He worked on various types of large, heavy-duty cranes and was a great asset to his crane operators.
A devoted baseball fan, Danny rooted for the Anaheim Angels but enjoyed watching any game he could, especially the Houston Astros. He played in a recreational league in his younger years and later took great pride in watching his grandson, Reese, play baseball, soccer and football.
Danny had a sharp mind and a love for crossword puzzles, which he famously completed in pen. He also loved to travel and made many treasured trips across the country with his brother, Steve, visiting ballparks and watching baseball games together.
He found his greatest peace on the water and loved every minute living aboard the 128-foot yacht Aussie Gal, where he helped his dad run charter trips and they rented the yacht out for movie productions.
Danny will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of baseball, and the many quiet moments of laughter and adventure he shared with those closest to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Joshua Fortenberry; his sister, Gaye Murray (Larry); his brother, Steven Macom (Donna); his grandson, Reese; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service has been scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Ignite Church with Pastor James King officiating.
