Daniel Martin Brooks, 88, of Palacios, passed away August 23, 2016. He was born in Lexington, Virginia on August 14, 1928 to Venable and Marie Brooks.

Dan proudly served his country during the Korean War and retired from the US Navy after 21 years of service.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Delia Frances Meahan Brooks, and son Daniel Mark Brooks. He is survived by his wife Gladys Williams Peterson Brooks; daughters Mary Colleen Whitbeck of Minnesota and Helen Margaret Hamilton and husband James of Washington; sons James Michael Brooks and wife Joni of Minnesota, David Andrew Brooks and wife Terry of Texas, and John Patrick Brooks and wife Stacy of Colorado, and ten grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5:00pm-7:00pm Friday August 26 at the funeral home. Services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery near Blessing, Texas. Pallbearers will be: Victor Eggemeyer, Brian Brooks, Mike Truelson, Chris Gale, Ryan Killebrew, and Jose Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bryan Whitbeck, Zachary Brooks, Eli Brooks, and Daniel Welder.
