Obituary

Dale Lee Taska, 58, of Midfield passed away January 7, 2025.  He was born August 15, 1966 in Bay City to Delvin Taska and Bernice Engelholm Taska.  His departure from this world leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Dale was a beloved educator, coach, and mentor whose passion for sports and dedication to his students and athletes shaped countless lives.  His love for coaching led him to return to his high school alma mater, Tidehaven, where he met his wife, Crystal, of 16 years.  After spending nearly 34 years in education, Dale retired to enjoy more time at home with his dogs and his second passion in life which was hunting.  Dale loved to tell stories about his hunting trips especially those with his wife whom he shared the value of nature and hunting with.  While Dale loved to share with people his passion for sports and hunting in his ALL CAPS text messages, his greatest accomplishment in life was the arrival of his daughter, Haven Leigh, this past October.  His last few months included constant hospitalizations, but when he was home he loved to watch football games with his new little recliner rider.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delvin Taska.  Survivors include his wife, Crystal Coufal Taska and daughter Haven Leigh Taska.  Dale is also survived by his mother, Bernice Taska; and in-laws Calvin and Sheila Coufal.  He is also survived by his sister Debra Taska-Genzer; brother in-laws David Genzer, Chris Coufal; and sister in-law Natalie Coufal.  Dale also leaves behind his nephews and nieces; Jordan Genzer, Peyton Taska-Genzer, Isabel Coufal (Izzy), Anthony Coufal (AJ), and Avery Coufal.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jordan Genzer, David Lucio, Josh Lovelady, Jeffery Williams, Marty Van Dyke, and Peter Quinn.  Honorary Pallbearers will be David Genzer, Peyton Taska-Genzer, Calvin Coufal, Chris Coufal, Darryl Hill, Harley Simmons, Mike Pierce, and Eddie Pettit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Blessings Rescue or Rainbow Room Wharton-Matagorda Counties.
