Obituary

Curtis "Cookie" Lynn Lewis, 66, of Sweeny, TX passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at home with his loving family at his side. He was born July 23, 1951 in Sontag, MS.

Cookie grew up outside of Austin, TX. After marrying his wife Terri, they settled in Bay City, TX where he worked many years as a crane operator for Brown & Root, Gulf States, and then Dunn Equipment at the numerous plants in the Freeport and Bay City areas. He later moved his family to the Sweeny area where he later started his own heavy equipment business, which he ran for 10 years. The last few years, he worked for Felder's Water Well Service in Angleton, TX before retiring to spend time with his family.

Cookie is preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Inez Lewis of Buchanan Dam, TX; daughter: Kaye Lynn Lewis; and 2 brothers: Pat Lewis and Alfred Lewis.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Terri Koenig Lewis of Sweeny, TX; 2 daughters: Kristi Lynn Ging & husband Jeff of Palacios, TX, and Staci Lynn Lewis of Houston, TX; 2 beautiful granddaughters: Kacie Lynn Ging of Huntsville, TX and Jodie Shae Ging of Palacios, TX; 4 brothers: Andy Lewis & wife Nancy of Buchanan Dam, TX, Joe Lewis of Alpine, TX, Charles Lewis & wife Cecilia of Buchanan Dam, TX, and Preston Lewis & his wife Robin of Bertram, TX, and many nieces and nephews.

It was Cookie's wishes to be cremated and have a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in his honor to the Kenneth R. Peak Brain and Pituitary Tumor Treatment and Research Center 6445 Main St. Outpatient Center, Floor 24, Houston, TX 77030.
