Cruz Lara, Jr., 82, of Blessing, Texas passed away April 16, 2024. He was born in San Juan, Texas on March 3, 1942 to the late Cruz Lara, Sr. and Maria Francisca Lara Alvarado.

Cruz was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He enjoyed the time he spent with his Children, enjoyed his Grandchildren and especially liked to sit and laugh at his Great Grandchildren.

Cruz enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose he was their best fan. He dearly missed the years he spent on the bulldozer and in his later years working for the Texas Department of Transportation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nicolasa Guerrero Lara, and siblings Porfirio Lara, Pedro Lara, Emilio Lara, Maria Lara Soto and Alicia Alvarado Pendelton.

Survivors include daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Lara (Steve), sons Freddie Lara (Maggie), Gary Cruz Lara (Dana), Ricardo Lara (Charlotte) and Mario Lara (Stephanie), brothers Lino Lara, Vincent Alvarado and Tony Alvarado; Grandchildren Rachel Gartica, Gabriel Lara, Sarah Lara, Joshua Cruz Lara, Jessica Lara Moya, Jacob Lara, Jordy Carrillo, Marisa Garcia, Chelsea Perez and Nicholas Perez and numerous great Grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5:00pm Sunday, April 21, 2024 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday, April 22, 2024 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gabriel Lara, Joshua Lara, Jacob Lara, Jordy Carrillo, Nick Perez and Jesse Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers are Derek Gartica and Ricky Galvan.
