"Miss Creta" loved her work, her arts and, most of all, her customers. She began painting in watercolors at the age of 65. She was a member of the Bay City Art League, Port Lavaca Art League, Rockport Art League and the Victoria Art League. She won many awards for her work.

She was preceded in death by her son: William "Bill" Smith; daughter: Beverly McIntosh Walker; by her parents; husbands: Ernest McIntosh Jr. and the final love of her life: Clyde Cowart.
