IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clyde Workman,
Jr.
May 29, 1930 – September 11, 2024
Clyde Workman, Jr., 94, passed away peacefully September 11, 2024. He was born on May 29, 1930 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Clyde Workman, Sr. and Lola Gertrude Smallwood Workman.
Clyde moved to Bay City, TX in 1943 after the tragic death of his father. After marrying the mother of his children in 1949, Clyde was drafted into the Korean War from 1952-1954. After the war, he returned to Bay City where he went to work for Rugeley Motor Company selling cars. He was then promoted to Parts Manager where he remained until he moved to Houston in 1969. In 1970, he opened his own business selling wholesale auto parts and remained there until the business closed in 2001.
In 1986, Clyde married his soulmate, Charlotte Simons Merck, and they were blessed with 30 years of marriage. Together, they lived at the ranch where they were happiest. As long as he was on a tractor, cutting down trees, or burning something, Clyde was content. They loved doting on their grandkids and Grandma and Papaw's house was always open to whichever one wanted to come spend the night. Cookies would always be in the cookie jar and Papaw would always get them involved in a project outdoors.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lola Workman, wife, Charlotte Simons Workman, son, Rodney Clyde Workman, brothers, George Workman and Kenneth Workman, and sister, Nadine Carter.
Clyde is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Workman Crume, daughter in law, Nita Workman, stepdaughter, Deborah (Crayden) Dennard, stepson, John (Jeanie) Merck, grandchildren Kyle Holton, Christopher Holton, Ashley (Jeff) Maslak, Kelly (Eliot) Dennard, Christopher (Katrina) Dennard, Matthew (Samantha) Merck, Emilie (Conner) Nice, Jackson Merck, Megan (Andrew) Sarclette and 8 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Sandra Ford at Country Assisted Living and Dr. Alan Byrd.
