February 9, 1944 – August 15, 2022
Claude Lee Stephens was born in Bay City, Texas on February 9, 1944. He passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Sugarland, Texas on August 15, 2022, after a brief illness, at the age of 78.
He grew up in Cherry Valley, Arkansas but spent most of his adult life in Bay City, Texas. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 36 years, and made many friends along the way. His generous stubborn nature, and big heart, made everyone feel like family. Claude was also a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles post 3232.
Claude is preceded in death by his parents, Winifred Stephens and Chalice Marie Stephens; his brothers, Earl Stephens (Nora), W.C. Stephens, Johnny Stephens and James "Jimmy" Stephens (Betty). He is survived by the love of his life, Dianne Stephens. They were to soon celebrate 57 years of marriage. He is also survived by his favorite sister Mollie May; his children, Stephanie Needham (Steve), Stuart Stephens (Melanie), Chalice Harris (Eddie); grandchildren, Siara Needham, Dustin Needham, Ariel Lee (Matt), Shelby Stephens (eng. Bryson), Shawn Stephens (Shylee), Allison McGrath and Sarah "Bug" McGrath. Great-grandchildren Layne and Blaze Harper; nieces, nephews and cousins, and multiple other family members.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 1 P.M. at The Eagles Hall Post 3232, 2100 Eagles Road, Bay City, Texas.
