Obituary

Christine James, 88, of Markham passed away May 18, 2007 in Houston. She was born January 19, 1919 in Gonzales County, TX to the late Ruben Edgar and Albina Sedlacek Leaser. She married Nathern James October 5, 1934. She worked in a defense plant in Houston during WWII, served as an election judge for Matagorda County, an active member of the Markham United Methodist Church, life member of VFW Post 2438 Ladies Auxiliary and was a loving caretaker for many people through the years.

She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law Nora Bucek of Bay City and Alice & Lynn Danner of Mexia, TX; brother-in-law Jack Cronin of Bedias, TX; her special "adopted grandsons" Cody Thompson and Heath Thompson of Markham and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son Macworthy James, sisters Mary Adams, Annie Zimbro & Elsie Cronin and a brother Chase Leaser.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Markham United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be Cody Thompson, Matthew Kaiser, Michael Calais, Lance Frick, Michael Dewoody and David Lee Perez. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy L. Danner, John Bucek, Winston Baker and William Baker. The family will greet friends and relatives from 5PM to 7PM Monday at the funeral home.
