John Christopher 'Chris' Brangan, Sr., 68, passed away August 22, 2022, at his Selkirk home.

He was born in Houston on August 27, 1953, the son of the late Francis J. Brangan, Sr. and Mary R. McMahon Brangan.

Chris attended school in Bay City, first grade through high school and afterwards obtained his Texas License as a Master Electrician, working in many managerial positions in different states and overseas in the Middle East. He married his wife, Connie Gustafson Brangan when working in North Dakota and later they settled in Bay City to raise their family.  They celebrated thirty-one years of marriage in July.

In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his sister Michaeleen 'Mickey' Stepp (Malcolm).  Surviving in addition to his wife Connie, are his daughters, Chelsey Smith (Preston), Rachel Brangan Flores (Jose); his son, John Christopher Brangan, Jr. (Nicole); sisters: Sister Ann 'Pat' Brangan, Eileen M. Singleton, Susie Hargraves (Bill), brothers:  Francis J. 'Frank' Brangan, Jr., (Sandra), James 'Jim' Brangan (Anna), Mike Brangan (Kathy), Tom F. Brangan, (Tisha), and the grandchildren he deeply loved:  Logan Smith, Andrew Brangan, Danny Brangan, Aiden Brangan, Jace Smith, Juliet Smith, Alex Flores, Bella Flores, Kathlina Flores and Grayson Perkins.

Saturday, August 27, 2022, under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home and at the Church of Christ site, 1200 Nichols Avenue, there will be a family viewing beginning at 8:30 A.M., friends and public are invited for Visitation at 9-10 A.M and a short Prayerful Remembrance Service at 10:00 A.M. This will be followed by a Catholic Gravesite Service at 11:00 A.M. at the Matagorda Cemetery Pavilion.

Pallbearers are:  Bill Mallia, Matthew Shay, Kenneth Bruce, Taylor Brangan, James McMahon, Michael McMahon and Honorary Pallbearer Kenneth Knight.

In lieu of flowers or plants, donations may be made in the name of Chris Brangan to the community of Matagorda's Volunteer Fire Department, 673 Market St., Matagorda, TX 77457.
