Charles Edward (Podie) Slater, 82, of Bay City passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. He was born on May 12, 1934 in Bay City to the late Charles Roland and Clara Mangum Slater. He lived life to the fullest everyday. He loved to work in his yard. He was a member of the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife Juanita Conkle Slater; daughter, Terry Donham and husband Taylor; sons Charles Loyd Roland (Podie Joe) Slater and wife Donna, Jim Edward Slater; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Freda & Billy Vanskike; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Kay Slater; brothers, Gary Wayne Slater, Kenneth Bass, Harlan Bass and Clinton Joe Bass.

There will be a visitation Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 5-8p.m. at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
