Charles Roman Nemec, 93, passed away in Bay City, TX on July 28, 2009. He was born December 11, 1915 in Schulenburg, TX to Karel Nemec and Euphrasina Fojtik Nemec. He is a veteran of the US Army during World War II, where he was a Prisoner of War for 18 months. After his discharge from the Army, he married Agnes Seviek and settled in Midfield to farm. He was a member of American Legion Post 649 and served many years as president of the Soil and Water Conservation District. He was also a member of the KJT Society # 84 of El Campo, receiving his 75 year pin in October 2008.
Charlie is survived by his children: Vincent Nemec & wife Cynthia of Bay City, Christine Naiser & husband Tony of Midfield, Cecilia Gutowski & husband Mark of Alvin and daughter-in-law: Adrienne Johnson of Clear Lake; by his sisters: Marie Hickl of West Columbia, Annie Kana of Stafford, Agnes Kleckar of Luling, Georgia Dorotik & husband Jerome of Taito; by his brothers: Richard Nemec & wife Nannette of Sugar Land, Joe Nemec & wife Naomi of Midfield and sister-in-law: Phyllis Seviek of Richland Hills, TX :
And by his grandchildren: Jayson Naiser & fiancée Emily Jasek of College Station, Stephanie Nemec of San Marcos, John Nemec of San Marcos, Nathan Gutowski of Alvin, Ryan Naiser of Midfield Wesley Nemec of Waco and Thomas Nemec of Bay City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Agnes Marie Seviek Nemec, a son: Patrick Joseph Nemec, his brother: Anton Nemec; sister: Elizabeth Pesak and by his parents: Karel & Euphrasina Nemec.
The family will receive visitors from 6 PM to 7 PM Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rosary will be held at 7 PM Wednesday and St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 30, 3008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Blessing.
His Catholic faith was an inspiration to his family and friends. He was always available if someone needed help, especially with fixing something..
