Charles Henry Jenkins, Sr. 77, of Palacios passed away June 1, 2025.  He was born August 2, 1947, in Bay City, Texas to the late Claude Lee Jenkins and Myrtle Marie Rose Jenkins.

Charles married the love of his life, Elizabeth Jane Ridley, on June 8, 1968. Shortly after the wedding, Charles received his draft papers, went into the Army and served two tours in Vietnam. He ended his military career in 1975 at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Charles was an auto mechanic for most of his life. He started at a very young age helping his dad under the hood. He continued his trade after he returned from the Army and worked at a couple of dealerships then at an auto shop until work became scarce. He then went to work for Paul Hunt as a mechanic and farm hand. Charles loved to "tinker" with things and build his own creations whether to ease his workload or to enjoy for himself.

Charles also loved to fish. You could find him most mornings down at the bay trying his luck out on the jetties. If he wasn't at the bay, he was at the coffee shop talking with his friends. Later in life, he hung up the fishing poles and was content on driving down to the bay to park and read his western books or just look out at the water and reflect.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Jenkins; daughter Charlene Beth Jenkins Wendel; sons Charles Henry Jenkins, Jr. and Denny Lee Jenkins; sister Betty Jo McFarland; brother-in-law Larry Ridley (Sherry); grandchildren Jordan David Jenkins (Amber), Austin Lee Jenkins (Ashley), Kyle Ryan Jenkins (Teresa), Tyler Logan Jenkins and Nichole Ann Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Palacios Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Palacios Funeral Home with Pastor Edward Boineau officiating.  Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Denny Lee Jenkins, Charles Henry Jenkins, Jr. Jordan David Jenkins, Austin Lee Jenkins, Kyle Ryan Jenkins and Tyler Logan Jenkins.
