Obituary

Charles Edward Hann, 83, of Bay City, Texas went home to be with the Lord April 6, 2015. He attended First Baptist Church of Bay City.

He graduated from Lawton High School in 1949. Among his awards and achievements, during high school, he worked on the school paper, "The Tattler", was voted most dependable as a freshman, most handsome and most likely to succeed as sophomore. He continued his education at Cameron Community Junior College and then went on to University of Texas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism August 1965. Later he attended East Texas State University where he earned a Master of Science in Journalism.

Charles severed the community of Bay City as a high school teacher from 1966-1992. He took great pride in directing the publications of the school yearbook, enjoyed assisting with extra-curricular school events and was awarded as appreciation of services to BCHS upon retirement.

Charles was a dedicated husband and father to his family. He enjoyed woodworking projects, and gardening, especially growing roses to cut and share with his wife.
Charles was born August 17, 1931 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Burritt Pingrey Hann and Mary Evelyn Monroe Hann. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Letha Inez Wiseley Hann; parents Burritt Pingrey Hann and Mary Evelyn Monroe Hann and brother Phillip Dean Hann.

He is survived by children Candace Lynn Hann Collette of Markham; Fred Burt Hann and wife Tammy of Bay City; Leslie Warren Hann and wife Donna of Austin; sister Judy Ray and husband Herbert of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren Frank Hahn III "Rusty" of Austin, Jody Hahn of Edna, Mark Hahn, Carrie Hahn of Markham, Sanea Granger of Mesquite, Lora Guzman and husband Ralph of Bay City, Chrysta Donahue and husband Mike of Lafayette, LA, Justin Hann, Alison Hann of Austin, Charla Droegemeier and husband David of Killeen and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 5pm-7pmWednesday, April 8, 2015 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday April 9, 2015 at 4:00pm at First Baptist Church, 2321 Ave. F, Bay City, TX with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
