Obituary

Charles "Bubba, Charlie" Edward Hahn, Sr, 76; of Bay City, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 14; 2018.  He was a true gentleman and will best be remembered for the quality of his character. Anyone who knew him loved him.  Charles was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where he was very active in the ACTS community. He spent many of his later years serving others.  He was always a smiling face at local nursing homes and willing to take elderly friends to doctor appointments. His life was about service.  He instilled in his children the importance of strong family ties and a strong belief in Christ.

Charles was born on July 8, 1941 to Joseph and Katie Hibbeler Hahn in Markham, Texas. He joined the Army and served in the Vietnam Era. In 1965 he met the love of his life, Franny, marrying in 1966 and began raising their two children. Bubba was employed by the Texas Highway Department for 14 years. He then worked for Phillips Petroleum for 22 years before he retired. He spent his leisure time gardening, hunting and loved to travel on family vacations. Charles' kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. He never missed an event they were part of.

Charles will be greatly missed by his wife, Frances Lamprecht Hahn, of 52 years, whom he loved deeply. His survivors also include children Charles Hahn Jr of Bay City, Rhonda Hahn Harfst of El Campo, son-in-law Slade Harfst and "adopted" daughter Cheryl Hager of Bay City; sisters Evelyn Topham of Keller, Texas and Elaine (Roger) Alexander of Wharton, Texas; Grandchildren are Emily Hager-Hahn, Mackenzie Harfst and Bronson Harfst; sister in-law Joyce (Homer) Smith, sister in-law Judy Williford,  sister in-law Janis (Gordon) Mayer, sister in-law Karen (Robert) Melton, brother in-law Donny (Florence) Lamprecht and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles in preceded in death by his parents; two brothers James Hahn and Joseph Hahn; sister Doris Latham, brother in-law, William "Doc" Latham and nephew Kelly Latham.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas from 5pm to 8:00pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm. A Mass of The Resurrection will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10:00am with graveside services to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers include, Bronson Harfst, Ray Smith, David Smith, Robert Smith, Kevin Topham, Stephen Alexander, Mike Livingston, Anton Staff and Modesto Quintana. Honorary pallbearers include Emily Hager-Hahn, Mackenzie Harfst, Phillips Petroleum Co-workers, ACTS Brothers and Sisters and his nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Houston Hospice, PO Box 1417, El Campo, Texas 77437 or Holy Cross Catholic School Foundation, Bay City, Texas.
