IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles "Bully"
Cartwright
April 11, 1933 – December 10, 2018
Charles Cartwright, son of Savage and Blanche (Ingham) Cartwright, was born April 11, 1933 in Bay City, Texas. Charles grew up in the Wadsworth/Bay City area. After graduating from high school, Charles (Bully) entered the United States Army in 1953 and served faithfully until his honorable discharge as a corporal in 1955. Following his military service, he returned to the Bay City, Texas area and entered into the civilian lifestyle. On October 3, 1957 he and Odell Janise were united in marriage. They shared over 37 years together having 4 children.
Bully worked for many different companies in the Bay City area. Eventually he moved his family to the Austin area in where he worked for TETCO for 19 years and then Carbo-medics for 13 years until he retired.
Charles loved his wife more than anything. He put all he could into making sure she was happy. Giving all he could for over 37 years, she succumbed to cancer on New Year's Eve, 1994.
Bully did his best to live on. He sold the house and moved out into the country. He also tried his best to stay close to his children and grandkids. After he retired he would drive to Florida and Missouri to see them. As grandkids grew, then came the great grandkids. Age didn't matter, he could outdo them all. He played with them and they loved the time they had with him.
The day came when he was no longer able travel. It was hard for him to be isolated. He did what he could to stay involved in their lives.
Bully was a good man, brother, husband, father, father- in-law, grandfather. He had an opinion and would let you know it, but mostly kept to himself. There are many people he shared times with and they will all be in our memories to laugh over for years to come.
Bully went to home to be with the Lord on Monday December 10, 2018 in the Christopher House in Austin, Texas. Father Don was kind enough to come and see him at the facility, giving the family a time of closure and peace that can only come from our Father in Heaven. Dad would always say, "The Good Lord put me here and the Good Lord knows my time will end."
He was preceded in death by his wife Maudie Odell (Dell) Cartwright in December of 1994 and his oldest son, Charles Edward Cartwright in April of 2018. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother: Savage and Blanche Cartwright, brothers: Homer Cartwright, Milford Cartwright, Howard Cartwright, and sisters: Mary Louise Toupes, Juanita Bell.
