Charles E. "Sonny" Benedict, 83, of Cedar Lane, TX, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born June 9, 1938 to the late Albert William and Clara Schafer Benedict.

Sonny was a lifelong resident of Matagorda County spending most of his spare time fishing and gardening.

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; sister Ann Desteiguer, grandson Cody Quigg. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Machacek Benedict; daughter Suzie Kelley; sons Kelly Benedict and wife Lana, and Mike Benedict and wife Tammy; sister Kay Benedict Meador and husband Don; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and aunt, Laverne Stevens.
