Obituary

Chae Hyon Ham was born February 2, 1982 in Seoul Korea to his father, Chin Ham and his mother, Sun Ham. He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves behind his mother, Sun, who lives in Bethesda Maryland, his brother Christopher, of Ellicott City, Maryland, his sister, Soyeon Ham, in Seoul Korea. And a host of aunts and cousins. The family moved to Dallas TX, when he was 4 years old. They lived and worked in several different places finally deciding to settle in Bowie, Maryland. Chae finished high-school and attended the University of Maryland as a Psychology Major. Chae had a special interest in music becoming a hardware and software designer, recording engineer, electronic engineer, programmer, musician, and a certified instructor from Omega Recording Studio and School. He taught music engineering there for many years. He was very gifted in playing many musical instruments. He also was the studio tech fixing all of the analog consoles, tape machines, and other gear.

He had a mind of an entrepreneur as he was the founder of the company, Prodigy Engineering. Chae designed audio gear, making several high end 4 channel mic preamps that were on the commercial audio market and were featured in both Recording Magazine and Mix Magazine. His very first preamp mic was a present to his friend Priest Da Nomad and used to record some of Biz Markie and DJ Kool's music, as well as Raheem DeVaughn's classic song" Woman" back in 2008, along with many other amazing artists.

He is considered a great friend by many of his family and those close to him. They described him as a constant presence, a quiet force of comfort and understanding in a world that often feels too loud. A man with a depth of kindness, humor, although stubborn at times, yet with a brilliant mind who contributed his goodness to much of this world. Chae lived outside of the U.S. and Korea, after the loss of his father, he had moved to Costa Rica. There he was happy enjoying the beach and the breeze, a simple life and then moved to Columbia. He found it to be wonderfully beautiful and often exclaimed how satisfying a place it was to live. He lived life as freely as he could and the way he wanted as much as possible. We can all say together: We love you Chae. Thank you for your contributions, your courage, your determination to live on your terms, and your dreams but most of all your love to your family and friends. Rest in peace.

We would like to acknowledge our deeply felt gratitude to Camilio Jaramillo at Funeraria San Vicente, Medellin Colombia and Sherman Houck, funeral director, Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Bay City Texas.
