Funeral services for Carrie Yeager Rudd, 99 years old of Van Vleck, will be held 4:00 PM Monday, May 3, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Van Vleck. Reverend Charles Weber, a former minister at Van Vleck First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rudd was born October 8, 1910, in Kurten, Texas to John P. Yeager and Mary Pasler Yeager. She died Thursday morning, April 29, 2010, at Matagorda Regional Medical Center. A long time resident of Van Vleck, she was an active member of Van Vleck First United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, and holding different positions in the church and membership in the United Methodist women's Society. Carrie was a retired schoolteacher with 41 years of service to her profession, most of those years as a first grade teacher. She taught in Ellinger, Van Vleck, and Sweeny, Texas. Some of the professional organizations she was a member were: the Matagorda County Teachers Association, Texas State Teachers Association, and Matagorda County Retired Teachers Association.
Her husband, Elijah Rudd who died in 1985, her parents, and her three younger siblings preceded Carrie in death: one sister, Janie Moore and two brothers, George Yeager and Victor Yeager. She leaves behind special friends who took care of seeing all her needs were met and/or friends who visited with her.
Pallbearers are Eugene Bickham, Blake Bolton, Coby Bolton, Truitt Farris, Fred Holub, John Keys, Gerald Lewis, and Sam Trevino. Honorary pallbearers are Odell Brown, Eddie Jecmenek, and Jerry Peter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Van Vleck First United Methodist Church or Houston Hospice-El Campo if desired.
