Carolyn Villarreal, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 72. After her initial fight with cancer in 2005, Carolyn's battle resumed, this time with a very different and aggressive form of cancer and Stage 4 diagnosis. The rapid progression of the disease left little time, but Carolyn faced it with incredible strength. While her family is heartbroken, there is solace in knowing that she was comforted by love and faith, and is no longer in pain.

Carolyn was born on August 12, 1952 in Palacios, Texas. She was a Palacios High School graduate, lifelong Palacios resident, and parishioner of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She retired from Palacios I.S.D after 21 years of service. Her role at home as a wife and mother is really what brought her the greatest joy. She loved taking a walk or drive by the bay, baking, gardening, doting on her family, and travelling to new places.

She is preceded in death by Raul Villarreal Jr. (infant son), Janie and Bernard V. Aparicio (mother & father), Phillip S. Flores (father), Maria Antonia Borrego (mother in law), and Larry Perez (nephew).

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 47 years Raul Leonel Villarreal of Palacios; daughter Desiree Villarreal Schmidt and husband Tyson Schmidt of Georgetown; son Dustin Villarreal of Manor; grandchildren Ava and Myllena Schmidt; sister Connie Cantu of San Antonio; nephews Eric Cantu & family of Corpus Christi and George Cantu of San Antonio; brother in law Johnny Villarreal of Tatum; nieces Brook Nicole Fleming & family of Arlington and Danielle Villarreal Fletcher & family of Tatum.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31st at St Anthony's Catholic Church, 1004 Magnusson Avenue, Palacios, Texas 77465. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery, 829 12th St, Palacios, TX 77465. A reception will occur at St Anthony's Family Hall afterwards.

Pallbearers are Raul L. Villarreal, Dustin Villarreal, Tyson Schmidt, Eric Cantu, and George Cantu.
