Carol Jane Sens Allen, 75, of Bay City, Texas went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. She was born on January 2, 1940 in Eagle Lake, Texas to the late Elmo & Pauline Miller Sens.
Carol made people smile wherever she went and was always doing little things for others. She loved showing kindness by putting mints and the church program in the seats of her friends around her, as well as cooking and serving during various church events at First United Methodist Church in Van Vleck, where she was a member.
Our sweet Aunt Carol made eight different trips to Conroe this past year to share in our celebrations and we feel forever blessed to have spent so much precious time with her. Our last shopping trip in Houston will be special in our hearts walking through stores, not buying anything, just talking and laughing and then going to lunch and seeing who could be sneaky enough to get the bill first.
She is survived by Coaina Spence (who shares her birthday) and husband Don of Conroe, Texas , Cody and Kandace Spence, Katy and Nathan Lund; Carol Backhus (her namesake) and husband Jim of Conroe, Texas, Alyssa Backhus and Kyle Backhus. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jerry Allen and wife Lynell, their children, Rev Cullen and Shelley Allen, Daryl and Sheryl Allen; sisters in laws Mary Lee Allen and Peggy Ottis and her children, Chris Otis, Tish and Joel Berryman and their son, Jaxon. She also leaves behind numerous family and friends that will miss her deeply. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Polly Sens, her best friend and sister, Jo Ann Sens Burkhart and the love of her life, her husband, Clarence Richard Allen.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Kenny Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be: Cody Spence, Kyle Backhus, Nathan Lund, Chris Ottis, Joel Berryman and Mark Grisham. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Allen and Lonnie Sommerlatte.
