Carlos B. Trevino died on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born in Bay City on January 9, 1928 to Maria Blanco and Jose R. Trevino.
On June 19, 1944 at the age of 16 he was inducted in the U. S. Army after declaring his birthday as February 14, 1926. He served with the Battery B 576th Field Artillery Battalion in the United States and Germany during WWll. He was honorably discharged on April 27, 1946. He was a member of several veteran organizations: American Gl Forum, American Legion Post #87 of Wharton, a lifetime member of VFW Post #2438 of Bay City, lifetime member of Veterans of Underage Military Service (VUMS) and MOC Pup Tent 27, an honor degree of VFW. When he was in better health Mr. Trevino could be seen selling poppy flowers outside of Shipley's on the days leading up to Memorial Day in remembrance of fallen comrades.
Mr. Trevino followed in his father's footsteps and went to work for Texas Gulf Sulphur for 30 years retiring in 1983. There he worked as a roustabout in the fields and then as a machine operator. He continued to wear his special made Texas Gulf Cap.
Mr. Trevino was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He was especially proud that he worked along side Father Shannon and fellow church members in the building of the original church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Luis Herrera Sr., daughter Mary (Muca) Sanchez, sons Charles Trevino and Robert Lee Trevino, grandson Randy Trevino Sr., brothers Amado & Jesse Trevino and Tony Herrera, stepbrothers Guadalupe and Luis Herrera Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Lydia Ybarra Trevino, daughters Cynthia (Roxanne) Trevino, Michele (Joe) Badajosa and Joann Griggs; son Rodney (Frances) Trevino. He is also survived by sisters Guadalupe (Antonio) Saldana and Julia (Kenny) Valdez; brothers Antonio Trevino, Abel Trevino and special niece Starr Evans. He is also survived by the mothers of his children Consuelo (Connie) Hernandez and Mary DeLeon Trevino.
Grandchildren: Charles Jr., Carlos, Robert Jr., Trisha, Melody, Charles, Jaime, Isaiah and Diane Trevino and Kevin Badajosa; 13 great grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Godchildren: Joey Saldana, Derek Lopez, Jessica Melchor, Jennifer Ordaz, Joel Lopez, Michael Adame, Anthony Terrazas, Bobby Solis, and Rudy Lozano.

Honorary pallbearers: Alex Blanco, Alfred Ybarra, Corina Robles, Daniel Lopez Sr., George Perez, Jesus Amezquita, Joe Ybarra, Katie Becerra, Lalo Martinez, Leo Borak, Margaret Campos, Mandy Blanco, Olfidio Esquivel, Richard Garcia, Robert Campos, Robert Hernandez, Sal Morales and Steve Hernandez.
Visitation will be from 2pm-8pm with a Rosary service on Tuesday, June 2 at 6:30p.m. at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Monsignor Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, Texas with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post #2438 and The Matagorda Calvary.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Building Fund.
