Obituary

Funeral Services for Carl J. Grisham, 88, will be held at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 with a family viewing at 1:00 pm and the service to start at 2:00 pm the same day.  A Veterans salute and Masons grave side service will also be held. Carl passed away October 6, 2021, in Conroe, Texas with his daughter by his side.

Carl was born in Westbrook, Texas on February 24, 1933, to Opal Mae (McKee) and Joseph MacDonald Grisham. Carl lived in Colorado City, Texas until he joined the Navy in 1951 and served until 1954 in the Korean War. He then went back home and to the oilfield where he worked in many aspects of the industry. Retiring with over 60 years in the industry with a much sought-after whipstock specialty consulting profession. Carl was able to travel locally and internationally in his work and it was his passion. He was fortunate enough to have two loves in his lifetime.  He was married to his first wife, Dorothy C. for 40 years and helped to raise her 4 children.  He became a Mason and was a regular member of the First Baptist Church in Bay City until he moved to Abilene, Tx., marrying his high school sweetheart, Coleen S. and was with her for another 13 years. He had a full and happy life.

He is survived by his current wife Coleen Grisham of Abilene, Tx. and his four children, their current spouses, and grandchildren. 1) Larry and Dixie Jernigan of Sandia, Tx., grandchildren; Shelly and husband David Bullock, Joy and husband Eli King, LaDeania Jernigan, Lacey and husband Steven Gilbert. 2) Ronnie Sheffield of Dallas Tx, grandchildren; Chuck and Cody Sheffield. 3) Sharon and Rick Harlow of Conroe, Tx,  grandchildren Sabrina and husband Allen Pitts III (Trey), Troy and wife Tonya Swearingen and Anthony and wife Tammi Harlow.  4) Kathy and James Dill of Moody, Tx., grandchildren; Mark and wife Shaylean Hale, Trisha and husband Tim Bewley and Kimberly and husband Matt Yandell. Carl also leaves behind 26 great and 9 great-great grandchildren numerous nephews a niece and countless cousins.

He is preceded by his first wife Dorothy C. Grisham, his mother and father, his brothers Roy and Charles Grisham and his sister, Joann Shakelford.
