Obituary

B.W. (Butch) Bevers passed away at his home on Friday, November 1, 2024. He was born to parents Mildred Walker Bevers and Woodrow Wilson Bevers January of 1943.

Butch lived the majority of his life in Matagorda County, Texas. Upon graduating from Van Vleck High School, he began working for Brazos Oil and Gas.

In October of 1966 he was drafted into the Army and Served in Germany until 1968.

After returning home from the Army, Butch returned to working in the oil fields as a gauger until his retirement in 1997.

Along with his oil-field job he worked and acquired his Hawkinsville land and named it the Heart Bar Ranch. The Heart Bar brand has been in the family for over 100 years, of which Butch was proud to continue the legacy. The ranch and brand will remain in operation via the Gee family.

Butch was an avid reader of Texas American History and loved talking about Texas History - especially longhorn cattle.

He was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church where he had served in the Building and Grounds Committee for several years.

He is survived by his loving ex-wife and best friend Barbara Eastman Bevers of Cedar Lane; his son, Brett Bevers of College Station, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Hill (Paul) and their family of Cedar Lane, Texas; Granddaughter Kasie Gee (Dustin) of Bay City, Texas; Granddaughter Kara Wangerin (Maddie) of Van Vleck, Texas; Granddaughter, Briahna Yuodsnukis of Chicago, Illinois; Great Grandsons, Kasen Gee and Dalen Wangerin.

Butch was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He was always present and willing to help his family and friends in any way he could. Butch could be found spending the majority of day light outside of his home watching sunrises and sunsets on his front porch swing. He had a great knack for making others laugh and making plenty of memories in the spirit of his late son, Jason Dwayne Graham. He will be forever missed.
