Bryan Duane Hale, 87, of Bay City passed away October 8, 2023. He was born August 12, 1936 in Bay City to the late Artie Hale and Leoma Smith Hale.
He went to work for CP&L in August 1954 as an apprentice serviceman. In August 1956 he transferred to Eagle Lake as a Serviceman. Due to problems with his knee making pole climbing difficult, he transferred to El Campo as a Sensor Clerk.
In 1960 he transferred to Laredo as a member of the Laredo marketing department. His specialty was the design of Commercial Lighting. 4 times he won the Coastal Bend Charter of Illuminating Society in the area of electricity in applied lighting.
In 1966 he transferred to Rockport as a member of the marketing department. In 1972 he was named the area manager of CP&L's property in Bay City, Matagorda, Wadsworth and Markham. Several years later the Palacios and Blessing areas were added to his responsibilities.
In 1992 CP&L combined the areas of their El Campo, Columbus and Eagle Lake Offices. Since he had one time worked in all 3 of those locations, he was named their manager. He held that position until his retirement in 2001.
He and his wife, Anita Rosemary Hale, moved to McKinney, Texas in 2021. She preceded him in death in November 2022 after 68 years of marriage. Their son, Kevin Duane Hale also preceded him in death. He came back home to Bay City in May 2023.
He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Cottam; his son Jon Hale, a his companion, Georgia Rice Herreth.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Friday, October 13, 2023 at Nichols Street Church of Christ. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm with Rev. James White officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
