Obituary

Bobbye S. Taylor was born Bobbye Ruth Smith on April 10, 1930 in Gulf, TX to the late Hubert Lee Smith and Nora Lee Graves Smith. She passed away June 7, 2016 at the age of 86.

She married Don Jean Taylor on October 1, 1949. She worked along with him at the family business, Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. After his death in 1990, she continued as owner of the funeral home and was actively involved until her health began to fail.

She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. She played the piano for the Wesley Class for over 40 years as well as the organ for worship service, weddings and countless funeral services.

She was a founding member of the Junior Service League and was very active in many other social and civic organizations. She was elected Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture's Woman of the Year in 1994.

Her three siblings Herbert Lee Smith, Jr., Bettye Smith Holt and Lucille Smith Roberts all preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters Charlotte T. Miller & husband Ronnie, Donna T. Sliva & husband Steve and Mariann T. "Wickie" Ashcraft & husband Craig all of Bay City; grandchildren Shannon Yates, Jean Miller, Clark Miller & wife Shelley, Julia Molle` & husband Henri and Sam Sliva and great grandchildren Caity and Melody Yates, Hanna Miller, Elliot Molle` & Hailey Miller.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Her family will host a reception at the Bay City Country Club immediately afterward. Serving as pallbearers will be Sherman Houck, Don Stone, Jim Allen, Terrence Allen, Richard Knapik and Matthew Holt. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Wiginton Charles Soechting and John Damon. Friends are invited to register their condolences at the funeral home between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Friday.
