Bob "Captain" Wakefield, Sr., 82, went to be with his Lord after a short illness on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Bob was born on July 4, 1929 in Bay City, TX. to the late William and Vallie Sparks Wakefield. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter at the bay-shore camp he built. He was a man that took a little and made it a lot. The things that were most important to him were his Lord and his family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dot Wakefield; daughter, Diane Wakefield; sons, Mike, Bobby, Scott, Glen and David all of Bay City; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Bill.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Mutz officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bennie Owen, Chris Murphree, and Steve Thomas.
