Bill Evans, 72, of Bay City passed away on Monday, October 25. He was born in Falfurrias, Texas to Billy Jobe Evans and Jean Lindquist Evans. He was raised in Premont, Texas and later moved to Van Vleck where he attended school.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard Lindquist and Noel Evans, and a nephew Cameron Cade. He is survived by his brothers Nelson Evans (Clara) and Sam Evans (Linda), sister-in-law Judy Evans, numerous aunts, nieces and nephews and their children and his beloved dog, Sophie.
Bill proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and knew the meaning of "Ooh Rah"! He was a Vietnam Veteran.
Bill, also known as Uncle Bill and "Turkey", was one of a kind, sincere and always willing to help others. His expertise and knowledge of mechanics was highly sought after by many. Bill's most beloved passion was watching, attending and participating in various motorsports events. He enjoyed working many seasons at the local Matagorda County Muddrags.
Bill loved the simple country life, hunting and fishing and the peacefulness it brought him. He was a true friend and neighbor to many and will be profoundly missed.
Pallbearers are Dawson Adams, Tyler Adams, Robert Brewer, Austin Evans, Jon Evans, Nathan Evans, Stan Howard, Wes Howard and Ken Luedicke. Honorary Pallbearers are Denton Leissner, Chance Leissner, Poth Leissner, Cole Leissner, Louis Zigenhals and Trent Zigenhals
Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 1 at 10:00 am at Roselawn Pavilion with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the local VFW #2438.
