Bettylee Lane Lukefahr, 80, of Bay City passed away May 5, 2016. She was born April 20, 1936 in Bay City. She spent 2 years working for the FBI in Houston prior to marriage. She then became a full time mom. After raising her family she worked as teacher's aide in both Van Vleck and Bay City and taught kindergarten in Austin.
Her husband Thomas Edgar Lukefahr, Sr. preceded her in death after 32 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a brother C. W. Mangum, grandson Jason Wade Lukefahr and twin great-granddaughters Abigail Rose and Elizabeth Renee Gloff.
Survivors include son Thomas Edgar Lukefahr, Jr. & wife Renee of Bay City; daughter Jeanette Lee Schmitz & husband Kevin of Austin; sisters Barbara Sue McGuirt & husband George of The Woodlands and Dodie Bradley & husband Don of West Columbia; brother John Jefferson Mangum III & wife Kim of Shiner; grandchildren Amanda Renee Gloff & husband Jimmy, Thomas Jack Lukefahr & wife Melissa, Weslee Scott Schmitz and Clayton Thomas Schmitz and two great grandchildren, who were her joy, Jaxon Wade Lukefahr and Kyler Leigh Gloff.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM with Bill Bell, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Thomas Edgar Lukefahr, Jr., Kevin Schmitz, Thomas Jack Lukefahr, Jimmy Gloff, Weslee Schmitz and Clayton Schmitz.
