Obituary

Betty Jane Callaway, 75, of Austin passed away July 24, 2005 at her residence. She was born July 16, 1930 in Bay City, TX to the late Elvin Lee & Priscilla Jane Arnold Gentry. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a life long resident of Bay City 'til moving to Austin in 2000. She was a 1946 graduate of Bay City High School and also St. Joseph's Nurses Training School in Houston. After 23 years as a lab technician at the Medical Arts Clinic in Bay City, she leaves numerous friends and patients that she cared for and loved, for years after her retirement.
Survivors include: 2 daughters & a son-in-law: Susie Roberts and Bonnie & Ron Ray; son & daughter-in-law: Mike & Vickie Callaway all of Austin; 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren: 2 nephews: E. L. "Butch" Gentry of Lake Jackson, & Rob Gentry of Houston; 3 nieces: Priscilla Obermeyer of Lake Jackson, Elizabeth Gentry of Bellaire, & Denise Christenson of Houston. She was preceded in death by her son: David Callaway; grandson: David Callaway, Jr; and brothers: Marion Gentry and Leon Gentry, Sr.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City with Rev. John-Nelson Pope officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Lemke, Taylor & Cliff Roberts, Gabrian, Jeremy, and Linsey David Callaway. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher & Scott Callaway, Ryan Lemke, Bill Roberts, Ron Ray, and Rick Restelli. The family will receive friends at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Seton Heart Failure Clinic, % Leslie Goldstein, 1301 W. 38th St. Suite # 310, Austin, TX 78705. The family extends gratitude to Clarissa Hull, our angel sent by God to care for ou dear mother during the last year of her life. Clarissa is an incredible woman who was by our mother's side twenty-four hours a day and at the time of her heavenly birth. We love you. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Seton Hospital, the Heart Failure Clinic and Austin Heart Hospital. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
