Bertha Marie Bullard Wells, of Lake Jackson, passed away on January 12, 2024.  She was born on June 27, 1934, on the banks of Caney Creek in Sargent, Texas to the late Henry Bullard and Amanda Beatrice Chambless Bullard.

Bertha was deeply cherished by all who held the privilege of having known her.  She was a pillar of love, faith, and strength for her family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike.  Her mission in life was to exemplify and share the love of her Lord and Savior with everyone she crossed paths with.  She was a strong, resilient, and compassionate woman who strengthened those around her through her deep-rooted and unyielding love.  For many, she was the embodiment of pure and unconditional love; giving everything she had and asking nothing in return.  She was an exceptional mother, grandmother, wife, and sister; to know her truly was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emmitt Donald Wells, daughter Connie Gayle Wells, brother Robert Bullard, sister Frances Ashcraft and grandson Brandon Scott Wells.

Survivors include sisters Ruby Moore and Molly Pirtle; son and daughter-in-law Carl Anthony "Tony" Wells and Marlene Wells; son Mark Allen Wells, daughter and son-in-law Sandra Marchelle Deering and William Gray Deering II; grandchildren Nikole Marie Underwood, Tiffany Elaine Keen and husband Jonathan Keen, Jennifer Ashley Warren and husband Nathan Warren, Mark Allen Carter and wife Erica Carter, Amanda Carol Deering and Alexandra Marchelle Deering; great grandchildren Hayden Parker Underwood, Cade Ryan Underwood, Maci Alexis Boone, Levi Anthony Warren, Selah Joy Warren and Shiloh Shane Carter.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no formal visitation.  Graveside services will be for family only.
