Benjamin Joel Ruley, 18, of Bay City, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2019 when he was called home to Heaven. He was at home surrounded by his loving family. Ben was born on December 2, 2000 to Ray and Jennifer Ruley and is survived by his parents and siblings: Brandon (and his wife, Bethany Reis Ruley), Megan, Zachary (Ben's twin brother), Samuel, Makayla, Amber, Faith, Nathaniel, and Erin Ruley. He also leaves behind his paternal grandparents, Vernon Ruley of Salt Rock, WV, and Diana Ruley of Huntington, WV; and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Bonnie Pendry of Jesse, WV. In addition, Ben will be sorely missed by his great grandmother, Minnie Pendry of Matheny, WV; his niece, Elliot Rose; and a host of other family members and friends.

Ben not only enjoyed playing soccer, but he also contributed to the sport and his community through coaching and serving as referee. His true passion, however, was acting. Ben portrayed characters in several community and home-school theater productions. Another of Ben's passions was cooking. His baking skills were top notch. If he wasn't kicking around a soccer ball or creating confections, you'd find Ben reading. He'd disappear for hours caught up in some fictional work of fantasy or futuristic dystopia.

Ben was always so very kind, loving, and gentle. His presence and smile brought warmth, joy, and peace. He exemplified courageous faith every day because he wanted to live a life pleasing to the Lord he trusted. Ben was truly an example of Christian love to everyone around him and of steadfast hope, which encouraged us all

Ben's memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 2321 Avenue F, Bay City, TX, on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 2:00 pm.
