Benito Cortinas, Jr., 89, of Bay City, passed away November 20, 2018. He was born March 12, 1929 in Raymondville, TX to Benito Cortinas, Sr. and Fernanda Vitella Cortinas.

Benito is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sylvia Cervantes, son Robert Cortinas: sisters Ernestina Bargas, and Enriqueta Ortiz, and brother Samuel Cortinas. He is survived by his wife Maria Covarrubias Cortinas; daughters Maria Yolanda Diaz (Elias), Hilda Mereles (Roy); Petra Montalvo (Robbie) and Nancy Saucedo (Michael); sons Rene Cortinas (Irene), Ricardo Cortinas, Sr., Ruben Cortinas (Beatrice), Rudy Cortinas (Cecilia) and Tomas Cortinas (Maria Teresa); sisters Evangelina Reyna (Adam), Elva Avila (Santos), Elida Samaripas (Paublo), and Dolores Martinez; brother George Cortinas (Margaret); son-in-law Richard Cervantes, daughter-in-law Christina Cortinas and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The Rosary will be held 10:00am Friday, November 23, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church followed by the Funeral Mass with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers are Leo Silva, Rolando Cervantes, Elvis Cortinas, Leonardo Fernandez III, Robert Renee Cortinas and Eric Cortinas.
