Benita Gomez Cano, 81, died June 13, 2007 in Navasota, Texas. She was born March 21, 1926 to Juan and Margarita Segura Gomez. She is survived by her children Dora & Robert Soto of Victoria, Hope Baker of Huntsville, Virginia & Richard Slack of Frisco, TX, Debbie & Rey Jimenez of Navasota, Bonnie Cano of Napoleonville, LA, John & Cindy Cano and Gabriel Cano, Jr. all of Bay City, 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gabriel Cano and grandson John Cano, Jr.

A Prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM Friday, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Vineyard Church in Bay City with Pastor Steve Sieben officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be George Slack, Joshua Baker, Jacob Cano, Jason Patranella, Stephen Cagle and Tucker O'Bryant. Jason Cano, Dustin Slack & Derrick Slack will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
