Barbara Lenore Simons Slone, 72, of Bay City, TX passed away Feb. 18, 2007. She was born January 19, 1935 in Matagorda County, TX to Dr. Bryan Elmo and Lenore Hall Simons. She graduated from Rice University with a degree in Psychology, and later obtained her LVN certification. She left the field of nursing to pursue her passion for quilting. She devoted her life to being a mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she volunteered as Organist and Sunday School Teacher.

Survivors include her mother Lenore Simons of Bay City; brother Jimmy & wife Dale Simons of Austin; sister-in-law Glenda Simons of Mansfield, TX, sons & daughters-in-law Tod & Lonna Slone of Cuero, TX, Keet & Tina Slone of New Braunfels, TX, & Kirk and Cecelia Slone of Russellville, AR; and seven grandchildren Kailey, Ace, Ky, Kale, Cole, Owen & Simon Slone. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Dr. Bryan E. Simons.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Bay City with Dr. W. D. Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers include James Duey, Stan Eldridge, Bob Allen and Pat Matthes. The family will greet friends at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday.
