Barbara Jean Rogers Harris was born on December 24, 1936, to Hubert and Marie Rogers on a farm outside Whitsett, Texas. She passed to her heavenly home on July 24, 2026, in Bay City, Texas.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Ward and Pearl Harris; her brother, Donald Rogers; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Ruby Harris, Ecil Harris, Gwendolyn and Cecil Branstetter, Edgle and Nelda Harris, Lendsy and Corinne Harris, Marbel and Ray Lindsey, Fred Heyn, and Gene Morin; her niece, Cynthia Morin; and her nephew, Ronnie Branstetter.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Weldon, of Bay City; her sisters-in-law, Trevia Harris of El Campo, Bernardene Heyn of Sweeny, and Yvonne Morin of El Campo; her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Vickie Harris of Bay City and Steve and Denise Harris of Webster; her son, John Harris of Rochester, New York; her granddaughter and fiancé, Kellie Harris and Riley Alford of Willoughby, Ohio; her granddaughter, Kristen Harris of Bay City; her extended family, David and Susan Denton of Pearland; and numerous nieces and nephews (there were 24 of them, and they are used to being referred to as "numerous").

Barbara was valedictorian of the Three Rivers High School Class of 1955. She married Weldon, her high school sweetheart, shortly after graduation. Barbara and Weldon attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas, where she graduated magna cum laude in 1958. She received her master's degree from the University of Houston–Clear Lake in 1985. Barbara taught school for 39 years, primarily at the kindergarten level, and she became a preacher's wife in 1958 when Weldon surrendered to preach.

Barbara accepted Jesus as her Savior as a child and was baptized in the Atascosa River just south of Whitsett, Texas. She was a lifelong Southern Baptist, and throughout her life, she served as a Sunday School teacher, Baptist Training Union teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the Woman's Missionary Union, choir member, pianist, Sunbeams teacher, and camp counselor at Alto Frio during the 1970s.

The family will receive visitors from 9:00a.m. – 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service officiated by Dr. Michael Zimmerman, immediately following at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29,2026, at First Baptist Church Bay City. Interment will be on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., at the White Creek Cemetery outside of George West Texas.
