Obituary

Barbara Ann Cunningham 85, of Palacios, Texas passed away November 4, 2022.  She was born March 31, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late JW "Rusty" Lanmon and Christine Montgomery Lanmon.

After Barbara graduated from Tulso-Midway high school in 1955, she went on to obtain a bachelor's degree from Corpus Christi University.  After graduation she began her teaching career in Sinton, Texas and then moved to become a teacher and coach at Palacios High School.  It was at Palacios that she met and married Clarence Cunningham and together they had three children John, Betty and Phyllis. In her first years of teaching, she coached girls volleyball and basketball and taught health.  Later in her career she obtained a Masters of Business and began teaching accounting and word processing and other business related subjects.  She also assisted her husband in running their crop dusting service C-Level Aviation.  She retired from Palacios with 33 years of teaching experience.

Since Barbara moved to Palacios she has been a member of First Baptist Church.  She taught Sunday school for many years and also served as the financial secretary for the church after retirement from teaching.  She sang in the choir for many years and served on a host of committees throughout the years.  She loved her church family and attended anytime the doors were open.  Outside of teaching and church Barbara had many interests.  She loved outdoor activities of hunting, gardening, and sports.  She loved playing baseball and basketball as well as watching sports.  She never missed the opportunity to watch the Astros, Cowboys or Rockets in person or on television, but her favorite teams were those that her grandkids were playing on.  She was at every sporting event she could attend.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Cunningham, son John, and her parents Rusty and Christine Lanmon.  Her brothers Glenn Lanmon, Donald Lanmon, Jimmy Lanmon and Tommy Lanmon.  She is survived by her daughters Betty Reynolds (Tommy) and Phyllis Brooks (Ned).  Sister Linda Beish (Robert) Robbie and sister in law Phyllis Lanmon and Holly, Julie McAllister (John), and Nancy Munn (Jed), DR Lanmon (Julie), Nita Kay Bates(Jim), James Lanmon (Christine), Glenn Lanmon (Patty).  She is also survived by her grandchildren Carson and Cade Brooks, Hillary Reynolds (Stacy), Rachel Rozner (Blake), Tommy Reynolds (Miranda), Destiny Glover (David) David Glover III, Dominique Brazil, Nick Brooks, Aidan Ardeneaux, Ethan Reynolds, Ryken, Owen, Stacy Linn McGee, Devin Reese (Anastasia, Kynleigh, Jasmine) Kayla Reese, Ashley Reese, Raegan Blackmon (Ella Rae), Clairabelle Rozner, Jaylon, Eriel, Grayson, Robbie, and Lena Reynolds and numerous nieces and nephews.
