Avis "Faye" Victoria Sykes, 94 of Bay City, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008. She was born November 2, 1913 in Grayson, LA to Willie Leo "John" Pitmon and Hattie Mae Duke Pitmon. She was a resident of Bay City since 1959 and a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughters: Shelby Jean Garner & husband Marcie of Houston and Marian Elizabeth Wilson of Ft. Worth; by her son: Johnny Alfred Sykes of Bay City; her sisters: Virginia Womack of Siloam Springs, AR, Gracie Roberts of Olla, LA, Eunice Hudson of Mer Rouge, LA and Waymel Smith of Bay City; by her brother: Elton Lee Pitmon of Grayson, LA; and by 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband: Marshall Sykes; her parents Willie "John" and Hattie Mae Pitmon; by a son: Milford Ray Andrews; a brother: Obie Pitmon; and by a grandchild: Kristal Benell Wilson.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 28, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Organ and Bro. Larry Macomber officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
