Avelina "Angie" Cortines went to rest in her Kingdom on May 5, 2012. Angie was born August 2, 1945 in George West, Texas to the late Frank and Delores Ruiz Aguilar. Angie was a resident of Bay City for the past 22 years. She was employed for many years at the Colorado Golf Course. Angie was a loving mother, grandmother and wife. She always considered others first. Many in Bay City considered her mom for the loving way she cared for people.
She is survived by her loving family, husband Jose Vega; children, Demetrio Ruiz, Miguel "Mike" Ruiz, Annabelle "Anna" Ruiz, Eli Cortines, Steven Cortines, Jose Vega, Jr., Michael "Mikey" Vega, Martin Medoza Sr., Martin Medoza, Jr,.; daughters-in-law , Crystal Cortines, Lisa Ruiz, Petra Cortines, Lupe Arrellano; son-in-law, Steve Guerra; 28 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; Brothers, Frank Aguilar, Jr. and Delfino Aguilar; sisters, Josephina Hernandez, Celia Alanis and Lydia Chapa.
Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00P.M. Tuesday with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30P.M. at the funeral home. The Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City with Father Gerry Cernoch celebrant. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
