August Lewis (Gus) Leissner, 49, of Markham, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston. Gus was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 23, 1962 to parents Charles Lewis and Iona Mae Pearse Leissner. He grew up in Gonzales, Texas and was a graduate of Bay City High School. He was a loving husband and father, an avid outdoorsman, and never met a stranger.

His wife, Linda Leissner of Markham, a son Ryan Leissner of Markham, and a daughter, Lindsay Leissner of Belton, survive him. He is also survived by two brothers, Jeff Leissner of Houston and Stan Leissner of Bay City as well as by his best friends, Bradley Sitz, Mark Ploeger, and the Sitz Family. His parents preceded him in death.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11 from 9:00 AM until 12 Noon at the Bay City Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City at 1:00 PM. Saturday. Pallbearers will be Bradley Sitz, Mark Ploeger, Shawn Burton, Chad Hammons, Aaron Villereal, Stephen Burton, Dayton Leissner, and John Romine.
Friends are invited to join the family at a reception at the Lions Club Tea Room immediately following the graveside service.
