Arthur Burnett (Dickie) Lang, 80, passed away peacefully with his sons by his side on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at St. David's hospital on Ben White Blvd. in Austin, TX. He was born in Austin, TX on July 6, 1943 to Lester and Mary Frances Lang. Ben White was his great uncle, so it was only fitting that he passed at the nearby hospital.

Art grew up in Austin and moved in with his aunt and uncle, Woody and Alice Louise Wilson, in Palacios during his senior year of high school. It was that year when he met the love of his life, Jill Richards. He graduated from Palacios High School in 1961, and they got married in December, 1962. They were married for over 60 years until Jill's passing in September, 2023. They began their married life in Austin where Art later attended the University of Texas. He finished his goal of graduating from pharmacy school at UT in 1973. After working as a pharmacist in Austin for 3 years, he moved his family to Palacios to work for his uncle at the Palacios Pharmacy for several years. He also worked in Bay City and Port Lavaca pharmacies and hospitals before working at the Palacios Prescription Shop for 28 years. He later retired after years of doing pharmacy relief work.

Art and Jill were members of the First Baptist Church of Palacios where they served in children and youth ministries when their boys were still in school. He served for 8 years with the Palacios Medical Foundation, 3 of those as president. He also volunteered for 8 years on the Palacios Housing Authority. He was well respected in the community and would even take calls and open the pharmacy after hours for those in need.

Art is survived by his sons Zach (and Vicki) Lang of Brentwood, TN and their children Maddy, Max, and Mason, son Zeb (and Kim) Lang of Austin, TX and their children Claire and Jackson. He is also survived by many wonderful in-laws, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jill, his parents, brother, Lester Lang, and sisters, Shirley Guillet, and Marilyn Parsons.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Palacios Funeral Home. Interment will be held following the service at the Palacios Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Palacios, TX.
